Acne vulgaris is one of the several types of the said skin problem. It is the most prevalent form of acne and is experienced primarily by young adults and teenagers. The occurrence of acne vulgaris decreases as a person becomes older, but it can also appear in adults who are thirty to forty years old. Regardless of when an individual got this skin problem, he must immediately seek treatment for it. Acne vulgaris treatment has two major divisions, which include treatments for mild acne and for moderate and severe acne.
First, treatments for mild acne vulgaris are often termed as home medications since products under this division can be purchased from drugstores and used at home. People normally have to use these products for two weeks before they see noticeable positive changes and two to three months before full results are achieved. In addition, most mild acne treatments contain peroxide solutions and specific acids. The former kills bacteria that causes acne and prevents future breakouts. The latter is used to peel off the outer skin layer and remove dead skin that clogs pores when combined with excess oils.
The second division of treatment is for moderate and severe cases of acne vulgaris such as cysts or nodules. This type of medication is done under the supervision of a dermatologist. Treatments for serious acne problems may be taken orally or applied directly on the skin, and they can include either one or both of the said methods. Similar to home medications, these treatments take a couple of months before users can see their full effects. However, products within this treatment division may cause side effects such as redness, stinging, and sun-sensitivity. |
